Special Education

In recent years, the government has taken significant steps to protect the best interest of disabled individuals. By properly assessing and addressing their needs, the goal has been to successfully blend these individuals into society, whether that society entail only school-related settings or life beyond education.

These steps are most prominent by two Acts — the IDEA and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, specifically Section 504. The IDEA specifically addresses children and aids in situations that directly inhibit educational growth. Section 504 covers and protects individuals for the duration of their lifespan. These individuals have a physical or mental impairment that significantly limits a major aspect of life.

We work with our school district clients to ensure that the needs of disabled individuals are addressed correctly; putting the needs of the individual first and ensuring that each case is appropriately assessed and tested. Using our knowledge of writing handbooks and policies, we outline goals and procedures that protect both the individual and the school district.

Our School Law attorneys are experienced in all areas of education-related law, but we take great interest in protecting the needs and rights of disabled individuals. We are qualified to ensure proper procedures in a educational environment, but are also knowledgeable on protecting the rights of these individuals for the duration of their lifespan.
