Megan M. Ott serves as panelist and instructor

at the Local Government Academy's

Newly Elected Officials Course

On November 21, 2009, Megan served as a solicitor in a “mock council meeting,” aimed to demonstrate the logistics of council meetings to newly elected officials (to be sworn in on January 4). Legal issues were written into the script of the mock meeting and as solicitor, Megan acted and instructed on the law. Some of the issues broached involved land use, the Ethics Act, the Sunshine Law, property maintenance code, oil and gas law and public bidding. A panel discussion followed the mock meeting.

The course was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Station Square. Approximately 100 attendees from Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Washington counties attended.

Megan, an associate at Goehring, Rutter & Boehm, is a member of our School and Municipal Law Group.
