A member of the firm's Litigation Group, Jaime’s practice areas include commercial and construction litigation, the firm’s defense of product liability and toxic tort claims, as well as civil rights, insurance defense and coverage disputes.
Jaime’s clients include corporations, insurance companies, title agencies, municipalities, professional and recreational associations, school districts, private developers, and regional contractors and subcontractors. She has also worked on behalf of design professionals and sureties. Her primary practice focus is in construction law, including procurement, investigation of bidders, contract preparation and review and claims negotiation and litigation. She advises her clients on risk allocation and management, contract formation, indemnity and insurance coverage. She has negotiated and implemented uniform dispute resolution agreements. She is panel counsel for several insurance companies and works with insurers and third-party administrators to defend and present and prosecute construction defect, property and casualty losses, as well as payment, delay and impact/inefficiency claims.
Jaime has successfully represented clients in nonjury and jury trials in courtrooms across Western Pennsylvania. She has also litigated complex construction claims on behalf of owners, contractors and subcontractors before the American Arbitration Association.
Jaime most recently presented at the October 2011 Fall Conference of Townships, Boroughs and Authorities. Her presentation, which provided common "Do's and Don'ts" of Procurement and Bidding, is one in a series of presentations she has given at the conference. Jaime has also written on the subjects of public contracting and construction claims negotiation, as well as the practice of law generally.
Her most recent article, “The Socratic Method Meets the Information Age” was published in The Legal Intelligencer and more recently, featured on the national Law.com website and newsletter. Jaime has become a frequent lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, addressing students on how to best navigate their role as a new associate, as well as how to best manage their career from the beginning.
Prior to joining GRB in July of 2003, Jaime earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2002. She completed her undergraduate education as a member of the Honors Program at Boston College, where she earned a B.A. in political science and sociology. Jaime graduated with honors from Boston College in 1999.
