A member of the firm's Estate Planning and Administration Group, Franklin has been engaged in the practice of law for over fifty-five years. Although he primarily concentrates on estate planning and estate administration, his experience does include representing small businesses and real estate matters.
Franklin counsels clients of all ages and frequently, multiple generations of families in planning and preparing for the distribution of assets. He specializes in drafting wills, testamentary, irrevocable and living trusts, advance health care directives, durable powers of attorney, probate and administration of estates, inventory, fiduciary, inheritance and estate tax return preparation.
At one time, he was an Assistant United States Attorney and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh Law School. He is a Certified Parliamentarian by the American Institute of Parliamentarians. With this, he recently attended the week-long biennial convention of the National Association of Postal Supervisors in Orlando. He has served in such capacity since 1952, missing only three events since his initial certification.
An avid believer in community involvement, Franklin has served on multiple boards, committees and in numerous organizations. For over forty years, Franklin has been involved with Jumonville, a Christian organization that is well-known for its summer camps and retreat opportunities. While he has held numerous board positions, his most recent role involved serving as Board Chair.
He has also served as President of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale and the Cranberry Township Rotary, as well as Chair of the Cranberry Township Zoning Hearing Board for five years. He has served as a member of the Board of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy for over 30 years, and on the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown’s governing board, where he is also a member.
Franklin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949 with honors, including the Omicron Delta Kappa Senior Award. He continued his education by attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 1952.
Franklin is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania State Courts and the District of Columbia.
